Dear Friend,
My name is Vlady. I grew up in a hockey family.
My father, Eduard Zankavets, MSc, is a 2-time Olympian as a player and participant of multiple IIHF World Championships as a head coach.
My mother, Svetlana, is a medical doctor; my sister, Veronika, learns at school.
My wife, Darina Zankavets, MSc, is a rehabilitation specialist and also works as strength & conditioning coach. We have a dog, Casper. He is really fast. After the end of a season we love to visit our parents and travel.
While being a professional hockey player, I was a big fan of strength & conditioning, so at the same time I thoroughly studied anatomy, theory of sport, sports physiology, and other disciplines that could help become a better athlete. Knowing that, in 2014 a head coach of the National team Belarus, Glen Hanlon, asked me to help prapare the team to the World Championship. That's how everything started.
Now, 10 years later, my uniqueness as a practitioner lies in combination of knowledge and experience in 3 fields:
Strength & Conditioning
10 years of experience working with elite hockey teams including:
- 6 seasons in the KHL,
- 3 IIHF World Championships (2014, 2017, 2022),
- Winter Olympic Games (2022).
Education & Research
In order to improve efficiency of the training process and find answers to questions that bother me, I have been conducting applied research for 10 years:
- Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA),
- published 2 Books & 36 Scientific Articles,
- earned PhD degree (Belarusian State University of Physical Culture).
Ice Hockey
As a pro player in the past, I understand the game:
- 5 seasons in the top division of Belarus,
- IIHF World Championship U-18 (2009).
